Marketing in 2 Minutes or Less: How Your Coffee Shop Can Get More Catering By Signing The Theme Song of “Cheers”

Here’s the transcript:

(“Small Business Stacey” singing the Cheers song) all right, I’ll stop singing. Hey everybody. Small Business Stacey here. You know what that theme song is to? Yep. You got it right. Cheers, right? This is the power that you can leverage as a small coffee, smoothie, juice bar, ice cream, dessert, snack shop owner. Right? Because when you know their name and I know that you do, people want to do business with you. You know when Harriet hasn’t been in to get her daily cup of coffee. You know when John is undergoing chemotherapy. You know when the Griswold household has had a new addition to their family. You know what’s going on in the lives of your customers.

That can really help you get some catering business. Actually, my first catering job came from a customer who was a regular in my store, loved the product so much and was like, “Can you come out and do my daughter’s birthday party?” I had never thought about it. I had never done catering before, but then that light bulb moment. Yeah, I can come out and do your daughter’s birthday party. Well, you can leverage the power of knowing your customer’s names. By knowing what’s happening in their lives. Are they having a birthday? Are they having an anniversary? Do they have a new addition to their family? Maybe that’s a reason to celebrate and bring you out for catering. Maybe somebody just got a promotion in a new job and they can help you make the connection to the decision maker in that company.

Food, in the end, in our own tradition, is something holy. It’s not about nutrients and calories. It’s about sharing. It’s about honesty. It’s about identity.

Maybe you’ve heard in the news that that company won some kind of award or got some recognition. What a great reason to reach out and do catering for some staff appreciation. There are so many reasons that you can find when you know their name. You see, because all business is H to H. Human to human. That is your strength. Knowing their names. Knowing what’s going on in their lives. So, today pick up the phone. Write a handwritten note. Read what’s going on in the news and reach out and do some H to H marketing so that you can build your business and get a foothold to get some additional catering business. I’d love to hear how this working out for you. Leave me a comment below. This is Small Business Stacey. Your small biz marketing specialist.
