Want to learn how to have great success on LinkedIn with your marketing? Don’t use a specific letter and/or word when you are reaching out to connect to potential prospects.
The I challenge.
Hey everybody. Stacey Riska here from Cups to Gallons. Are you leveraging the power of LinkedIn to grow your coffee, smoothie, juice bar, ice cream, dessert or snack shop and your catering services? LinkedIn is a great place to start those connections. I use LinkedIn in growing my catering business because my core avatar is the HR or the office manager with businesses that have between 50 and 100 employees. And where do they hang out? LinkedIn.
Here’s the thing though. If you want to build those connections and start getting engagement, you do not want to start your conversation with the letter I. I, I, I. We, we, we. It’s nothing more than chest-beating. Take a look at when you send out those connection requests, how you start the conversation. Probably, I would like to connect with you. I was looking at your profile. I do this. I do that. Here’s the thing. Your leads, your prospects, your customers, your clients, they don’t care. The only thing they care about is themselves.
So take a moment, stop being generic, and research about them. What are they looking for? What pains do they have? Why do you want to connect with them? And change the way you language that request to make a connection? Make it about them. In my coffee and smoothie business, I do this the same way. I don’t make it about, I do coffee and smoothie catering. Would you like to connect with me so I can sell you more stuff? I research them and find out what their pains are. and when I send a connection request, it’s about them.
So I am challenging you today to the Take The I Challenge. Do not start the first letter of your sentence with the letter I. It’s really hard to do, believe me, but I would love to hear how you’ve tried it. Are you getting more connections? Are you getting more engagement? I guarantee that you will. You’ve got to try it for at least a week and then come back and leave me a comment below.
