When it comes to marketing your catering services you need a way to differentiate yourself. “Small Business Stacey” shares what you can learn from Jeep to make your catering business stand out from the rest. #CupsToGallons
Are You Offering The “Jeep Experience”?
Here’s the transcript:
A car is just a car, right? Hey everybody, Small business Stacey here at the DC Auto Show. And I want to commend Jeep for doing a fantastic job of proving that a car is not a car. And in your catering business, this is a really important lesson to learn. Because what you’re not really selling catering. You’re selling an experience. You’re selling what the car gives you, right? The dream, the transformation, you’re going to go out there and you’re going to tilt your car 30 degrees, right. Well actually here in the DC area, that’s just a normal day’s drive.
No, but seriously, you’re buying the dream, the experience. And this was a lesson that really transformed my coffee and smoothie catering business. I wasn’t just selling catering, I sold the “Ultimate Hawaiian Getaway Without a 12-hour Flight”. Now which would you rather have? Smoothie catering or the ultimate Hawaiian getaway, where we bring Hawaii to you. And set up a tiki bar, where professional tiki tenders blend gourmet, all natural fresh fruit smoothies, topped off with a Hawaiian parasol.
Old Jeeps never die, they just become toys.
What I’m selling is a “Vacation In a Cup”, not a smoothie. A big difference, right? So while all the other car companies are here, selling their cars they all have four doors, just like Jeep. Jeep has the biggest line here of people wanting the experience. So learn from that, that is how we put together catering packages. All right, I’m off to take a drive in one of these really cool vehicles.
This is Small business Stacey, your small biz marketing specialist, here to help you learn how to stop selling by the cup, and start selling by the gallon … by doing what Jeep did, and creating an experience that people will happily open their wallets for, bye bye.
